Nine-year-old Karl is a street boy living in Dresden in 1915. World War 1 challenges the people and Karl needs to earn his own money: he transports potatoes on his little handcart to the merchant at the market. For a long time, Karl has had a big dream: just once, he would like to see the famous elephants of the Sarrasani Circus.To earn the entrance fee, Karl works hard. But when his dream finally comes within reach, everything turns out differently than expected…
